True Authority
"In this season of information overload, the challenge for each of us will be, “Who do you listen to/who is your authority?” It is easy for me to let the information I receive from the news and various people cause me anxiety and fear. But, when I look to Jesus, particularly reflecting on His authority, His word tends to silence the other voices. Why is that? The realities of the world and the upheaval are still just as real, but, held against the authority of Jesus, things are brought back into perspective."
"God is always looking forward for us, allowing these struggles to shape us, but not be the end of who we are."
"Injustice and sin in our world should stir up anger in us and move us to action. This means standing up for the powerless and defending the weak and most importantly praying for God to bring justice. I am reminded of these lyrics from a song by Jenny and Tyler:
“Where there is hatred, let me sow love
Where there is injury, let me pardon
Where there is darkness, let the Light come, come”
"As Jesus enters Jerusalem, the anticipation builds and the expectation that He will fulfill the people’s need for deliverance from worldly rulers is what’s celebrated. But disappointment is going to follow when people watch their expectations crushed through the literal death of their foretold Messiah. Yet, this is the avenue for our saving grace. The parade we enter into now at the beginning of Holy Week is one that leads to death, but that very death is our saving grace."
